Solar Battery Storage
Store the energy you don’t consume and use it when you really need it
Solar Batteries work by storing the excess energy that’s generated by your solar panels. This allows you to utilise all of the electricity created and maximise the amount of savings you get.
A lot of people don’t use all of the energy from their PV system, and because of that, export a lot of energy back to the national grid. Using a battery allows that excess free energy to be stored and used when the solar panels are not working, for example in the evening/night time.
Batteries are especially good for those that don’t have a big demand for electricity during the day as the majority of the energy that’s generated will probably be exported. This particularly affects those with systems smaller than 30kw because they most likely wouldn’t have an export meter which records exactly how much is used and exported. The energy providers of those without an export meter will automatically assume that 50% of what is generated is exported, so even if you export 90% of the energy generated, you will only get paid as if you exported 50%. Having a battery allows you to take advantage of this and export as little as possible.
